Now that you’ve been to Japan what happens next?

By accepting participation in the North Shore Lions Youth Exchange Program you agree to:

* Attend approx. 3 exchange committee meetings to provide input into the
activity program being planned for the Chiba students and their chaperone the
following summer

* Host a Japanese student for 2 weeks in your home the following summer

* Speak to the North Shore Lions Clubs who provided funding for your trip

* Speak to other students in school about your trip and provide information to
peers who express an interest in applying themselves

* Remain on the Youth Exchange Committee in future years {optional}

* Become a Canadian chaperone as an adult {optional}

Planning the Exchange

Activities in North Vancouver vary from family to family. As in Japan, there is an equal mix of official program activities and “free days”. The North Shore Lions Youth Exchange Committee covers the cost of all official program activities, while the Hosting Family is required to cover the cost of all “free day” activities.

Favorite places to visit with the Japanese students are Gastown, Grouse Mountain, The Capilano Suspension Bridge, Granville Island, The Vancouver Aquarium and The Britannia Mine Museum.
